InnerVisions Productions LLC Releases Telemaque: The Vesey Plot.

Hackensack, New Jersey---February 15, 2002- InnerVisions Productions LLC released their groundbreaking documentary on the insurrection lead by Denmark Vesey (Telemaque) in South Carolina, USA. First created to be viewed solely via the web, InnerVisions Productions thought that the project could be better appreciated if people could watch the video on their own TV's. To this end Telemaque: The Vesey Plot was released on a DVD player compatible disk known as a VCD. This disk plays in most players ( go to www.innervisionsproductions.com/product/players/ for a list of tested players) and plays in most Computer DVD and CD drives via software such as WINDVD, MacVCD and MacVCDX.

Background: Denmark Vesey was a slave of Joseph Vesey, a slave trader in South Carolina. Vesey won the lottery and used a portion of the proceeds to purchase his freedom. Unlike many blacks who had their nominal freedom, Vesey was not satisfied with the conditions under which blacks found themselves and decided to lead an insurrection. Vesey, along with Monday Gell, Gullah Jack, Peter Poyas and Ned Bennett, were betrayed by a domestic. Vesey along with many other co-conspirators were tried in a special court and were sentenced to death by hanging.

This documentary is narrated by Yvette Raven and features commentary from Daniel Meaders, Aubyn Lewis and Sondjata Olatunji.
