InnerVisions Productions and IronicWorld teamed up this past October to produce Kirk Nugent's second Video CD, tentatively entitled, Kirk Nugent: Still Ain' Lie.

The title came up as a joke while we were in Ashland Ohio.I asked Kirk what he thought the title of this video should be. He commented that his book and CD was "the Unpopular Truth" and he wanted to keep up the 'truth' theme. So we tossed around the titles like 'more truth tellin', ' more truth' and then I said " why don't we call it 'Still Ain' Lie'" and Kirk nearly fell out his seat. Now I was only kidding but he liked it and it grew on me and it's been a running joke ever since.

This video follows Kirk as he travels from New Jersey to Ohio to do his shows at two Universities, Youngstown State and Ashland University. We shot his commentary and shows with a two Sony Digital 8 cameras. (Note to Sony: I'm not happy that you guys changed the battery size on the new cameras.) We also managed to catch some of the funny moments of life on the road. I also missed a whole lot of stuff too. Note to future documentarians: Keep plenty of tape and let that camera keep rolling.

Mobile Video Editing

While on the road we decided not to waste time. I plugged up my G4 PowerBook right next to the *cough* radar detector, and checked the clips and rough edits. This way I could remind Kirk of any mistakes he made so that he could make sure to do the pieces he really wanted to get on tape. At the hotels I hooked up the hard drives and captured the source footage, so I wouldn't have to do it when I returned. I really wished I had this set up when I was doing the Denmark Vesey documentary. Anyway, The video should be available by the end of March.
